Here are some common questions we get about installing Oblique and Unifile products.

| » WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A "TOP" (T) AND "SUPPORTING" (S) RAIL ASSEMBLY? |

Most of the time, there is no difference. A "top" assembly, by definition is designed to fit into the pair of shelf supports in the top of a four post or case style
shelving unit. A "regular" (R) assembly has been designed with pins which fit
into the "keylock" holes in four post shelving uprights. Oblique recommends at least 8 shelf
supports (4 pairs) should be used in every shelving unit. If a pair of
supports is installed at the top of the unit and one in the
bottom, then two more pairs should be distributed equally within the unit. We use these pairs with
"supporting" assemblies which in most cases look
exactly the same as
"top" assemblies. However, since it is not physically installed at the top of the unit, we call it a
"supporting" assembly to clarify its function. |

| » HOW DO I KNOW HOW MUCH SPACE TO PUT BETWEEN THE RAIL ASSEMBLIES? |

The typical way to install Oblique is to start at the top of the unit. Drop the first
"T" (top) assembly onto your top shelf supports and hang a single compartment on the
rails. Using this as your gauge, place the next assembly the appropriate distance down or
count the number of keylock holes between rows. In most four
post shelving the keylocks are on
1 1/2" centers, therefore, 12" on center installation requires a rail assembly every 8th set
of keylock holes. 13 1/2" on center is on every 9th set, etc. |

| » HOW COME SOME BRACKETS ARE PUNCHED "L" AND "R" AND OTHERS AREN'T? |

Some rail assemblies are punched with the holes exactly in the center of the bracket (such
as regular 24" deep brackets. In these cases, the brackets are reversible and can be
installed either way. In some case (such as 15" brackets) the holes are punched
slightly to the front and therefore must be identified as left (L) and right (R) when
installing. Make sure to clearly identify L and R brackets and ensure they are positioned
correctly or your compartments will not sit properly in the unit. |

| » WHEN IS AN OBLIQUE INSTALLATION CONSIDERED COMPLETE? |

There are basically five steps involved in an Oblique
installation:
1) Assembly rail assemblies.
2) Install rail assemblies in shelving
3) Hang Oblique compartments on rails (Unifile compartments hang straight onto
shelf supports).
4) Snap all compartments together.
5) Install indexing accessories
A fully installed
Oblique system has all the compartments installed on the rails and snapped together. If
compartments are not snapped together, Oblique does not honor the Ten Year Manufacturer's
Warranty. Whenever possible, all Oblique components should be installed, along
with Color keyed Indexing™ which is essential for the system to perform
properly. |
